TPG Architects, in association with CA Architects, Andrew Prowse Landscape Architecture and James Cook University’s Tropical Urban Design Lab collaborated on a masterplan for Ravenshoe’s main street - a project commissioned by Tablelands Regional Council to encompass the community’s vision for a more vibrant, enticing and attractive main street serving both locals, visitors and revealing Ravenshoe’s history and future aspirations.
In extensive collaboration with stakeholders, the design team devised a plan for safer streets for pedestrians, motorists and the physically challenged. Improving civic amenities, native landscaping and commissioning public art were suggested as part of an integrated design that connects the town’s natural and cultural attractions. These assets include riverside walks, Indigenous heritage, military history stories from World War II and Ravenshoe’s status as Queensland’s highest town.
